Principal's Message

Greetings from the Principal, Women’s College, Tinsukia!

Women’s College, Tinsukia (WCT) is a premier educational institution of Dibrugarh University that pursues the exemplary mission to nurture young women who are equipped to achieve success in a rapidly changing, deeply inter-connected world. Women’s College, Tinsukia was established by a group of visionaries viz. the Late Anath Bandhu Bose, Late Shanti Ranjan Bhattacharjee, Late Prithwish Chandra Bhadury etc.  in 1966. These visionaries saw women education as imperative to augmenting India’s growth as a modern nation. We have traversed a long way from those early years.

Today, the WCT community has succeeded in carving a niche for itself as a leading place for women to emerge as ‘she-roes’ not only in academics but also in extra- curricular and co-curricular activities. Women’s College, Tinsukia has been awarded B++ grade in the Third Cycle of Accreditation by NAAC.

WCT boasts of a highly skilled, dynamic and updated faculty that is devoted to delivering and disseminating knowledge as well as skill using the modern facilities made available in the College in the form of ICT enabled classrooms, three huge computer labs with more than 191 computers (164 for students use), broadband internet and online classroom facilities. Moreover, the College library boasts of more than 40 thousand Books, a plethora of Journals, Media files (Classic films, Documentaries etc.), and e-Journals. We are proud of the fact that WCT is the only College in the region that has a Healthcare Centre and an Ambulance of its own. Moreover, there is a state-of-the-art seminar hall and common rooms for the students as well as the teachers. We have also tried to encompass the rich ethnic and socio- cultural diversity of the region through a beautiful Ethnic Museum.

Students, in the course of their study, come across several outreach programmes that give them access to transform lives and the world around them. The Mentor-Mentee system is highly effective in ensuring the academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular excellence of the students. Moreover, free Yoga training is also provided to our students. WCT is the only HEI in the region that makes its library facilities available for the students even after the College hours. The Career Counselling and Placement Cell has been instrumental in not only providing Career Awareness and Career Guidance to the students but also Campus Recruitment facilities through collaboration with agencies like TCS and Mahindra. Our College is committed to the motto of Empowering Women through quality education as well as employment opportunities.

In my concluding remarks, I would like to reiterate that WCT will always strive to push boundaries of knowledge, empower Women with quality education and skills to take on the world. In other words, our effort will be to mould women into competent individuals who, in the words of Ayn Rand, will assert, “The question isn’t who’s going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me”.
