Workshop on Water Hyacinth Craft and Celebration of International Women’s Day

1. The workshop was organized for the students of Women’s College, Tinsukia in association with the Guijan Handicraft Cooperative Society, Tinsukia. The aim of the programme was to empower our students by imparting skills in water hyacinth craft. Three technical assistants of the cooperative society guided our participating students to crafting of eco-friendly items from water hyacinths. The workshop equipped them to seamlessly transform this aquatic plant into practical, everyday items such as baskets, containers, dinning mats and bags and also developed a sense of entrepreneurship and self-reliance among the students. 2. In the occasion of International Women’s Day, Women’s Studies and Development Cell, NSS Unit and Centre for Women’s Studies organized a lecture Programme along with exhibition cum sale Programme of the craft which manufactured by the students during the workshop from 4th to 8th March Our resource person Ms. Bharati Sharma Madam mentioned about the significance of the day and also motivated our students to establish their own identity.
